Research, how is synergy created between front cover and contents page, 1.

Synergy is created between the front cover and contents page by using the same black serif font to create continuation. The white font on the front cover is also represented on the contents page through the background in order to keep the same house style but also show contrast. Synergy has also been created by portraying the cover artist on the front cover and on the contents page with the same casual and laid back pose, the yellow colour on the front page is also displayed through the yellow PUFF displaying 'cover story'. The pink colour is also represented on both the cover page and the contents page. To create the house style they have also added the red 'Q' on the contents page as well as on the front page.

The artist displayed on the front cover is also represented on the contents page with the same blue shirt and relaxed nonchalant expression. Therefore the same representation has been created of the artist, consequently the photographer is creating an identity for the artist.

The two images above show synergy, the screen grab from the contents page on the far left highlights the white space in between images and text columns, there is also a lot of text displayed on the front cover in the white colour. The text used as black headings on the contents page is also the same font style displayed on the front cover screen grab above, this also helps create synergy through both pages.

The two screen grabs above also show synergy as the Q logo is displayed both on the front cover and on the contents page. On the contents page screen grab the box out which includes the Q consists of black, red and white as does the box out which includes the Q logo on the front cover which creates synergy however to add interest and difference the colours are used differently, for example the Q in both screen grabs are not the same colour, one is red and one is white, although both colours are still represented.

The red is also represented on the contents page in the PUFFS to display the page numbers

The front cover screen grab shows the use of the black and pink colour contrasting well together as does the screen grab from the contents page, this creates synergy through the three pages.

The yellow and black are also shown together on both the contents page and the front cover creates synergy. The effect of putting two colours which work well together on the front cover has obviously worked well attracting the readers attention and therefore it is appropriate that this effect would be repeated on the contents page.

The black is represented on both the contents and the front cover page, this creates synergy.

How this magazine has influenced me

I like the way the cover lines are slanted it created the effect of box slanting upwards on the left and downwards on the right allowing the model to appear more 3D, this is a feature i could  use on my magazine because it is unique and breaks convention, on all the magazines i have seen so far the writing it mostly straight.
